DIY Gyaru Ideas: Customize Your Own Clothes!

Hello Gals ♡
Today I will be sharing some clothing, shoes, and accessories I have customized in order to make them "gyaru". I hope that these examples give you some ideas of your own!
There are so many ways to take a basic item and gyaru-fy it. Buttons, studs, lace, bows, chains, rhinestones, faux flowers, fur, pearls, and even feathers can add a very distinct gyaru flair to any basic item. You can add these details to clothing, shoes, bags, hats, and accessories.
All you need to customize your own clothes is a needle and thread, and some E6000 glue or crystal bond adhesive. Let's see what I have made!♡

The cardigan pictured above was originally a plain hot pink off-brand cardigan from eBay. I added various sizes of rhinestones to replicate something you might find from an onee gyaru brand such as DaTuRa or Delyle Noir. I think it turned out really cute!

I did the same thing with this basic H&M green sweater.

I had seen this picture of these Ma*Rs bows (above) and was inspired to recreate them with some similar bows I already had:
The pink bows were $1 each from Dollar Tree and they already had pearls sewn to them. I added rhinestone chain along the edges and sewed a heart-shaped in the center of the bow. They don't look exactly like the Ma*Rs bows but I still think they look super pretty!

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*Buttons✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

I had gotten this cheap blouse from TJ Maxx because I felt it could work for himekaji. The blouse initially had plain buttons that were made of the same fabric as the shirt. I wanted to make it look more like a Liz Lisa piece so I ordered some fancy pearl buttons outlined in gold. I removed the original buttons then replaced them with the pearl buttons. I love the blouse so much more this way! The new buttons make it look a little more expensive and very reminiscent of an old school Liz Lisa top. I frequently wear this to my job at a spa!

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*Studs✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

This was a plain black visor I got from Shein. I bought some plastic silver studs from Michaels and painted half of them gold with enamel paint, then arranged and glued them on. This visor works well for tsuyome looks!

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*Faux Flowers✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

I got the pink floppy straw hat at 99 Cents Only, it already had the string and beads on it. I took apart a flower lei (also from 99 Cents) and threaded the string through the center of the flowers. This is a quick and easy DIY for a beachy gyaru hat!
I also got the pink platform sandals from 99 Cents Only. The straps were just plain metallic pink so of course I had to gyaru-fy them! I got the faux pink flowers from Dollar Tree, glued them to the straps, and in a few minutes I had the cutest flower platforms ever!

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*Strawberry Crocs!!!✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

As much as I would like to have the real strawberry crocs (which are not actually crocs lol) they don’t make them in my size! :’( So of course I had to make some myself. I bought some plain pink fake-croc-clogs on ebay for about $14 and a green foam sheet from Michael’s for $0.99. With the foam sheet I cut out two pieces shaped like the leafy strawberry part, then glued one to each backstrap of the shoe. I had some button strawberries and strawberry blossoms and glued them inside some of the holes to look like croc shoe charms. These turned out so perfect and adorable I could actually cry.
